Abstract: A class of representations of a Lie superalgebra (over a commutative superring) in its symmetric algebra is studied. As an application we get a direct and natural proof of a strong form of the Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt theorem, extending this theorem to a class of nilpotent Lie superalgebras. Other applications are presented. Our results are new already for Lie algebras.

$H^4(BK,Z)$ and Operator Algebras
Journal of Lie Theory Vol. 14, No. 1, pp. 199--213 (2004)
Abstract: There is a well-known interpretation of group cohomology in terms of (generalized) group extensions. For a connected semisimple compact Lie group $K$, we prove that the extensions corresponding to classes in $H^4(BK,\Z)$ can be interpreted in terms of automorphisms of a pair consisting of a type $II_1$ von Neumann algebra and a Cartan subalgebra.

Abstract: We give a new proof and an improvement of two Theorems of J. Alev, M.A. Farinati, T. Lambre and A.L. Solotar : the first one about Hochschild cohomology spaces of some twisted bimodules of the Weyl algebra W and the second one about Hochschild cohomology spaces of the smash product G * W (G a finite subgroup of SP(2n)), and as an application, we then give a new proof of a Theorem of P. Etingof and V. Ginzburg, which shows that the Symplectic Reflection Algebras are deformations of G * W (and, in fact, all possible ones).

Abstract: We develop the cohomology theory of color Lie superalgebras due to Scheunert--Zhang in a framework of nonhomogeneous quadratic Koszul algebras. In this approach, the Chevalley--Eilenberg complex of a color Lie algebra becomes a standard Koszul complex for its universal enveloping algebra. As an application, we calculate cohomologies with trivial coefficients of 3-dimensional color Lie superalgebras.

Abstract: This paper considers interrelations between universal algebra, algebraic logic, geometry and computer science. The key idea of the paper is to show that problems, coming from computer science, require introducing of highly non-trivial mathematical structures. On the other hand, algebraic models in computer science give deeper understanding of problems essence. This general idea is illustrated on the example of knowledge bases. Theorems concerning the knowledge base equivalence problem are formulated.

Description: By using deformation arguments (in a family of associative algebras), the authors make some progress toward a proof of a Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture concerning the maximal dimension of an irreducible representation of a finitely dimensional restricted Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of prime characteristic. The article contains an important bibliography and an interesting discussion of what is known and what is conjectured on those representations.
