Description: If A is nontrivial finite or countable group without an involution and n is sufficiently large fixed odd number, then there is a 2-generated simple group G containing A, such that every proper subgroup is either cyclic of order dividing n or is conjugate to a subgroup of A. In particular, there are Tarski-like monsters with both finite and infinite abelian subgroups. The methods are those of Olshanskii.

Russian Math. Surveys 57 (2002), N6, 1127-1162
Abstract: The survey is devoted to associative $\Z_{\ge0}$-graded algebras presented by n generators and n(n-1)/2 quadratic relations and satisfying the so-called Poincare-Birkhoff-Witt condition (PBW-algebras). We consider examples of such algebras depending on two continuous parameters (namely, on an elliptic curve and a point on this curve) which are flat deformations of the polynomial ring in n variables. Diverse properties of these algebras are described, together with their relations to integrable systems, deformation quantization, moduli spaces and other directions of modern investigations.

Compatible Lie brackets related to elliptic curve

Description: Lie algebra structures compatible with the direct sum of sl(n)'s and associated Poisson structures. The whole point is in the particular intricated form of these brackets, and not in the isomorphism classes of corresponding Lie algebras: as semisimple Lie algebras are rigid, all such brackets, as Lie algebras, are isomorphic to the initail direct sum of sl(n)'s.

Abstract: We define the Jacobi 1-form and the Jacobi 2-form of a Jacobi algebra. We construct the Jacobi differential complex and describe Jacobi cohomology. We show that a Jacobi algebra determines a Lie-Rinehart-Jacobi algebra and that, conversely, a symplectic Lie-Rinehart-Jacobi algebra determines a Jacobi algebra structure on the base algebra.

Constants of derivations on free associative algebras
Glasgow Mathematical Journal 44(2002), 177-183
Description: It is proved that the subalgebra of constants of a derivation on a free associative algebra in prime characteristic is free provided that some constraining conditions are satisfied. As a particular case, it follows that the constants of the partial derivatives on a free algebra form a free subalgebra. The main result is also applied in order to provide a simplified proof of a previous result by the author on extensions of tensor rings.

A characterization of 3-graded Lie algebras generated by a pair

Abstract: We prove that any 3-graded Lie algebra generated by an element of degree -1 and another of degree 1 over a field K of characteristic zero is isomorphic to a 3-graded Lie subalgebra of sl_2(K[t]/p(t)K[t]) endowed with its usual 3-gradation, for some p(t) \in K[t]. We also give a thorough description of the ideals in the free case.

Preserving commutativity
J. Pure Appl. Algebra 156(2001), 309-328
Abstract: Every commutativity preserving linear map on the algebra of all nxn matrices over an algebraically closed field F with characteristic 0 is either a Jordan automorphism multiplied by a nonzero constant and perturbed by a scalar type operator, or its image is commutative. The assumption of preserving commutativity can be reformulated as preserving zero Lie products. So, this theorem is an extension of the well-known result on the structure of Lie homomorphisms of matrix algebras. ***We first prove the result for the special case in which F is the complex field and then apply the transfer principle in Model Theoretic Algebra to extend it to the general case.***
