links - (computer-related) toys shopping
[links] [home] [search

kinda outdated (last time I bought something like that was at the beginning of 2001, I think. probably I grew up finally big and serious and don't need toys anymore).

cdroms books t-shirts toys what is good what is bad
cheapbytes X -
(delivery is too pricey)
- - site is very clean and uncluttered don't sell *bsd and some other stuff outside us; once were down for ~2-3 days; delivery of heavy stuff is too pricey
copyleft (disfunctional) -
(no cheap ones)
X X
(big choice)
X answer on emails; provide orders history one january (2000) order arrived in july; silly huge countries dropdown box; site is too heavy/slow
infomagic X -
(only 2-3 primitive guides)
-
(only one or two)
- provide old cdroms for free cdroms are not so uptodate; once idiotically insisted that my credit card is invalid; brain-damaged plugin on almost every page! no search on the site; at October 22, 2000 site was down (displaying error from zope)
linuxmall X X X X cdroms are nicely labelled and packaged
linux system labs X -
(delivery is too pricey)
-
(only a few)
-
(only tux dolls (well, they are cute, but not enough these days...))
sell *bsd stuff outside us, unlike others; very cool packaging material - little plastic pieces which you may throw on somebody; often offer new cdroms for free (for a limited time); answer on emails immediately and reship lost orders. the most of their cdroms are just plain unlabelled CD-R's often unreadable on some of cdrom drives; use asp (yuk!); have cookies/sessions-related bugs (not surprising, eh?); silly huge countries dropdown box and moronic mandatory "state" field; delivery of heavy stuff is too pricey
thinkgeek - X X X answer on emails; site is nicely organized

black list
linuxcentral delivery is incredibly expensive - about 30$ for 2 cdroms; besides, they have some bugs in displaying shipping options
